my brain on belgium.
I’m back in the United States and summer is ending, so sadly I’m putting my brain on belgium to rest. It’s been a heck of a summer and I’ll miss Belgium a lot. I’ll still pretend to be European though. Thanks for reading!

Goodbye London!

The Buckingham Palace.

The Buckingham Palace.

After the Churchill museum, we found our way to a cuban cigar shop. It happened to be the same cigar shop Winston Churchill used to buy his signature cigars from. Needless to say, it was Christmastime for my dad. We went into the ‘museum’ in the basement and discovered the chair Churchill himself used to sit in while he puffed away. It’s safe to say my dad is a changed man.

Last week my dad and I went underground into the Churchill War Rooms in London, where Britain’s top secret WWII decisions were made. It was pretty incredible.

I <3 Pimm’s

I’ve recently become a big fan of Pimm’s, London’s classic liqueur. It’s always served with lime, lemons, strawberries and other fruit. Nom!

When a man is tired of London, a man is tired of life.”
-Samuel Johnson
The other night we went to Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre and fell in love. The 13-year-old who played Billy was from Seattle and his energy was incredible. Elton John’s score didn’t hurt either. The show was an inspiring and charming display of struggle, hope and individuality. Let’s just say I’m starting tap lessons when I get home.

Royal ambition

The first thing we did in London was hop on a double decker bus, which was overwhelming to say the least. We casually rode past London icons like the Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the London Bridge, Tower of London and John Lennon’s apartment. Although I’ve been to a lot of European cities full of history this summer, I have to say that London has the most concentrated sights. Gosh those royal families are ambitious.

The Tower Bridge on the Thames River, which is a lot prettier than the London Bridge.

Off to London! (Dad’s pretty psyched)
